Q: This is my second marriage and I would like to know if it would be appropriate for me to wear a white dress.
A: In the recent past wedding etiquette experts are suggesting that the white dress is no longer reserved for first-time brides only. Therefore, I suggest that you wear the dress of your choice.

Q: Do you have a good idea for attendants’ gifts?
A: Personal stationery! I think this is a wonderful idea as many times we do not purchase that for ourselves. You can really personalize the stationery by choosing different colors, fonts, monograms, etc. to match the personality of each of the attendants. Have fun with this.

Q: How do I insert my invitations in the envelope?
A: Place your invitation with the fold facing the bottom of the inner envelope with the lettering facing the flap. The respond card should be tucked under the flap of the respond envelope with the lettering facing outward. The respond card and envelope along with the reception card should be placed on top of the invitation with the lettering facing the inner envelope flap. The inner envelope with the invitation should be placed into the outer envelope with the names on the inner envelope upright, and facing the flap of the outer envelope.

Q: My daughter has me to give her away at her wedding and I am concerned as to what to wear. Do you have any suggestions?
A: Congratulations to you and you daughter! You should wear attire that a mother of the bride normally wears; therefore, if it is going to be a formal wedding, you wear formal attire; if the wedding is casual, you wear casual attire, etc.

Q: I would like to acknowledge the groom’s parents on our invitation. Is this customary?
A: Traditionally, the groom’s parents are not mentioned on the invitation. However, this is becoming more acceptable. If you would like to mention their names, after the groom’s name put “son of Mr. and Mrs….”.

Q: How long do the invitation companies keep orders in-house for printing?
A: Most of the companies require three days in-house for printing. However, some of the upscale invitations companies require more time for “hand” work required on some of the invitations. Also the color photos usually require extra time, anywhere from 3-7 business days in-house.
